New, But Not So New

Hi friends! I have fabulous news! The Mamma Mia Blog is finally settled into our new home at Yes! Yes! It’s our own Web site. Seriously, I know I’m a little over the top, but let me have my moment.

Over the course of about a month, I have been working with an amazing blog guru Rob McGuire, who also built one of my favorite blogs Savvy Sassy Moms. Rob successfully migrated Mamma Mia from Blogger to WordPress. Kudos to Rob for a job well done and for putting up with me.

So, what does this mean for Mamma Mia? Well, we have a lot more functionality, which allows us to be BIGGER and BETTER… More giveaways, more guest bloggers, more travel, more fashion, more food ideas, more local fun and even more of my “take it or leave it” random life lessons.

To kick things off, I’ll  be blogging every day next week as we take beautiful  San Diego, California by storm on our family vacation. The Griswolds have nothing on us. Brace yourself San Diego, I’m coming back… and I have kids this time. Something we should do or see? Leave a comment and let me know.

I’m so jealous! San Diego is literally Heaven on Earth for me. You guys are going to have a trip of a lifetime. There’s sooooo many things to do and see there. The highlights of my last trip that you should DEFINITELY take the kids to see: (sorry for the novel)
    • Black’s Beach – These are like 300 foot cliffs that lead down to a black sand beach. It’s a popular place for handgliders to go and jump off the side of the cliffs to fly. Yes, that’s right. You just sit there and watch people jump off the cliff and handglide along them. It’s absolutely amazing. You’re also able to hike down the cliffs to go to the black sand beach but the hike was pretty scary when I was there over 5 years ago. (P.S. Black’s beach is somewhere near the University.)
    • Old Town – There’s some place called Old Town, I think, that is kinda different and good for a morning/afternoon out. We started with breakfast there then walked around there’s lots of stuff to see.
    * La Jolla – My favorite place ever! Hundreds of seals are hanging out on the rocks, there’s an amazing park overlooking the water, a really cool swimming area that also has awesome kayaking trips that take you through the caves nearby. Shopping is killer here! Lot of shopping! You’ll probably go by here several times!
    • Little Italy – They have a section of downtown called LIttle Italy which is fun to eat lunch and peruse the shops.
    • Coronado – It’s an island if i remember correctly so there’s a fun bridge to go over to get to it. I wasn’t that impressed with the shopping/dining however they did have a cool sight-seeing place there that was like an old base or something. There’s an amazing lookout point that’s breathtaking.
    • Tia Juana – For the truly adventurous, a trip to tia juana might be in order. Actually, I wouldn’t go with kids but if you ever go without the kids it’s kind of an interesting place to experience for the adventurous traveler. We just spent the afternoon.
    Have fun!!!

Heather… I love the novel! Recommendations are awesome! I’m definitely going to check them out. Never been to Old Town or Black’s Beach. I’ve been to the area a few times before, but going with Mia and Madi adds a whole new dimension to “my San Diego” lol.
