Coming Full Circle

There have been a lot of big changes in my life over the past year… New house, new baby and now a change in my career.

Produce For Kids

I’m the new marketing manger for Produce For Kids! I am so, so extremely excited to be involved with this organization and something I am so passionate about. While the Mamma Mia Blog’s content will remain mostly the same, I’ll be integrating healthy fun recipes and news about the health benefits of produce into the mix. Consider me your new resident produce expert! I’m thrilled to be part of the organization and hope to make my mark promoting the benefits of produce while raising money for worthy causes such as Childrens Miracle Network and PBS Kids.

Invaluable Jewels

I’ve had a lot of great post ideas on my mind and can’t seem to find the time or creativity to sit down and actually elaborate on any of them. Most of the post ideas stem from comments made by Mia over the past month. “Does Santa live with God,” a clear misunderstanding…  “Is there a fat show for kids,” the pressures of body issues are alive and well even in the world of four-year-olds.

Jewelry Box

So today, while my juices are still non-existent, I decided to post a photo of one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. Why did I receive this gift? Well simply put by my little Mia, “I did this because I love you.” A box of jewelry for me… hand cut and selected by my future jeweler.

Resolve To Travel Giveaway!

Even as an avid traveler, I had some reservations traveling by myself over the holidays with my four-year-old and eight-week-old. How would I make it through security! Well, I did it and will do it again soon. My advice, you don’t need to pack “your life.” Pack just what you need.

Now more than ever, I’m looking for ways to travel “smarter.” One cool item I came across to make traveling easy, especially with kids, is PakUrDerm. The new PakUrDerm™ Travel Kit is the perfect solution to packing the right essentials in carry on bags and following the right FAA regulations to keep everything together and easy to access. I imagine this easy solution would have helped me avoid an unfortunate incident with my favorite perfume. RIP Chanel Chance.

PackUrDerm

The PakUrDerm™ Travel Kit, which features six three-ounce bottles, 20 labels, pen and see-through case, meets TSA guidelines.

I have a family four pack of PakUrDerms to giveaway on this #Travel Tuesday! The contest will run through Tuesday, February 1.

Fully Charged

My life is a circus at the moment so it was only fitting we take a family outing to see Ringling Bros.® (aka The Greatest Show On Earth) perform their newest show, Fully Charged.

Like last year, we “pre-circused” with pizza at Metro Esspresso downtown and headed over to the new Amway Center. Highlights of the show for Mia were the Ukranian strongmen who twirled telephone poles over their heads, The Fernandez Brothers who jumped and flipped atop of huge steel turbines and of course the amazing Ringling Bros.® elephants. Highlights of the show for baby Charli were the bright and colorful lights. (Hey, babies can have opinions to you know.)

The show is going on in Orlando through this weekend, with the final show on Monday evening. If you miss the show in Orlando, head to Jacksonville Thursday, January 20 through Sunday, January 23.

Lower level tickets at the Amway Arena start at $25. All seats are reserved, and tickets are available at www.ringling.com orwww.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.

Elephants on Parade in Orlando

Another boring Monday evening… I think not. Families can witness the famous Ringling elephants parading through downtown Orlando on their way to the new Amway Center. The parade kicks off eight performances to take place in Orlando beginning Thursday.

The animals will unload at the railroad tracks on S. Hughey Ave. around 6:30 pm. The parade will travel on S. Hughey, turn right onto W. Gore St., turn right onto S. Division Ave., turn right on W. South St. and then enter the GEICO Garage. Here’s a link to a map of downtown that you can view online and print.

2010 Orlando Performance

The all-new 141st edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Fully Charged, debuts in Orlando next Thursday, January 13. We attended the Orlando performance last year and were absolutely amazed.

Lower level tickets start at $25. All seats are reserved, and tickets are available at www.ringling.com or www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.

Amazing Moms

Needless to say, being a mom is hard work. Being a good mom is even harder. I meet and interact with moms everyday… Each one different with a different “story.” I am constantly astounded by the number of amazing, mothers in the world. Today, I’m featuring a guest post from one of those amazing mothers who deserves to be recognized. Introducing, the Fabulous Christy Seaman. A friend, a mom, a business pro and… well, Super Woman.

First, I want to thank all the little people who have made me who I am today…. And one special little person I am talking about is my beautiful 1-year-old daughter Ava.

Second, I want to tell you that I am writing from a tiny wine bar tucked in a corner pocket of the Memphis Airport.  I am traveling for work as I am a corporate warrior. I am laid over in Memphis on my way back to Louisiana where Pap-Pap and Nana live to pick up my daughter.  Seems like a lot of effort being that we live in Virginia, but when my job necessitates travel I have to fly my daughter down to my parent’s house in Louisiana.  I drop her there and then go off to my corporate world travels.

Christy and Ava

You ask why I have to drop her at her Nana’s house in Louisiana? Because I am a mother, a mother who has been blessed with the extraordinary gift of a healthy and spunky baby girl….but is apparently challenged in the business of relationships. So our little family is sans the typical “daddy” that is suppose to come along with the package.

I guess you can call me a single mom. But I don’t like that description much. I prefer Super Woman, She-ra, or The Mama-nator! I am a mom like every other mom, just sometimes I need a little motivation form my inner super woman and my fab group of girl friends. I am here to say that you can do anything you want if you put your heart behind it and your mind to it. Tough times get better, and lemons become lemonade. You just have to figure out how to squish the lemons and find some sweet sugar to add to the mix.

Women are the strongest beings on this planet and Mothers are on a whole different level. We are loving and nurturing, set boundaries for our little ones while breaking through boundaries set in front of us as women.

No matter what kind of mother you are… you can have the career you want, the hobbies you need to keep you sane, all while raising a kid that will go out in the world and conquer more then you ever dared to take on.

What helps get Christy through the day? Check out these sites, blogs and books…

Sea World Orlando Does Christmas Right

We never miss Sea World’s Christmas celebration, and lucky for us Sea World is taking the seasonal celebration to a different level this year with added shows and attractions. Mia and I had the chance to enjoy the festivities last Friday evening. While we were limited on time due to the freakishly cold FL weather and the fact that I gave birth 2 weeks ago, we had a great time and plan to go back with our annual passes before Christmas.

New This Year…

Sea of Trees - Guests will discover 75 massive trees, each sparkling, lighted and choreographed to classic holiday tunes, making a dramatic display around SeaWorld’s center lake. I have to quote Mia in regards to the Sea of Trees, “Mom *long pause* this is a special moment.” Truly one of the most AMAZING, beautiful and unique things I have ever seen.

Sea of Trees

The Christmas Market - Located on the park’s Bayside Pathway, guests can shop for one-of-a-kind gifts and dine on scrumptious holiday delights. Hot chocolate in a Sea World refillable mug recommended! Annual pass holders will receive 20% in the park through Christmas! So, get your holiday shopping on.

Christmas Marketplace

Returning from last year’s festivities are Shamu’s Christmas show, Miracles; The Polar Express, where guests jump aboard a trip to the North Pole to visit Santa; Winter Wonderland on Ice, skating show choreographed with dancing fountains and fireworks; Clyde and Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas, a hilarious sea lion duo make sure Santa doesn’t miss them this year.
